With five facilities, Golfbaren is a well-established player in Stockholm's entertainment scene. Now they continue their investment with a brand new golf bar in the unique Signalfabriken in Sundbyberg. A clear signal that The Minigolf Experience is the overall experience that attracts more and more people.
Imagine what 12 correctly placed miniature golf holes can do. Suddenly the place becomes a vibrant meeting point where people meet for socializing and challenges. On December 1, SIGNAL by Golfbaren opens its doors in Signalfabriken, and Sundbyberg gets a new hotspot.
Behind SIGNAL is the Golfbaren group, which already has popular establishments in Kristineberg, Aspudden, Nacka Strand and Jungfrusund, as well as the flagship SWING by Golfbaren in Vasastan in central Stockholm.
With the new addition in Sundbyberg, they are now taking The Minigolf Experience further into the future.
- Our vision is to create unique meeting places, do good things and have fun together during the journey. Sundbyberg has attracted us for many years. Already the first day we looked at the premises, the initial thoughts about the interior design and theme were born. Location is everything when we look at interesting projects and opportunities. If it feels right, there may well be more golf bars in 2022, but growth is not an end in itself. Our priority is to establish SIGNAL and welcome guests to experience The Minigolf Experience, good food and drink with minigolf as a central part," says Hans Olofsson, founder of Golfbaren.
In addition to 12 challenging and quirky holes, SIGNAL by Golfbaren offers two bars for champagne and beer with a bar menu, as well as a generous area for social mingling, meetings, parties, family gatherings and after work.
The setting is important for the whole experience and Golfbaren works with locally adapted themes and concepts for each location. SIGNAL is based on the history of Signalfabriken, mainly in the 1930s and 1950s when industrial activities such as Sieverts Kabelverk, Järn-Alpha and LM Ericsson were housed in the block in central Sundbyberg.
Behind the conceptual design is LG Nilsson, Sweden's foremost storyteller for attractions and destinations, who is behind meeting places such as Siggesta Gård, Junibacken and Vikingaliv. The collaboration between Golfbaren and LG Nilsson goes back a long way and his masterful touch always gives the "dotted line" feeling.
- We want each golf bar to tell its own story and preferably have a natural connection to the place and its history. SIGNAL by Golfbaren is located in the middle of Sundbyberg, in a factory and industrial center in the old city center with the Plåten block, commonly known as Signalfabriken, as the center point. Therefore, we have chosen to give SIGNAL a sense of "factory chic", with elements from Sundbyberg's history and many of the companies that have operated there. All in an environment that nostalgically and entertainingly tells exciting stories about the history of the place. Historically correct but with a twinkle in the eye," says LG Nilsson.
Also contributing to SIGNAL's unique interior design is Sara Wiklund, who normally works with set designs for "lens-based media" with a focus on drama, commercials and still photography. Sara distinguishes herself through her ability to create a scenographic atmosphere for all types of environments. Received an award for the best museum exhibition of the year 2020: "Tidsvalvet på Nordiska Museet".
As the final "icing on the cake", the lighting of the premises was created by Svante Pettersson, a well-known lighting evangelist in the industry. His ability to use seemingly simple means and odd solutions to let the lighting contribute strongly to the overall experience once again works wonders for a golf bar.
Sundbyberg is one of the country's fastest growing municipalities. As always, Golfbaren wants to be the "local hero" that protects the surrounding area in the creation of meeting places. Founder Hans Olofsson, who himself has a long background as a professional golf player, played for Sundbyberg's Bangolfklubb 1995-1999 and was, among other things, the leading player behind the club's six SM gold medals and Elitserie wins during these years.
- Miniature golf is strong in Sundbyberg and the bangolf club's facility at Golfängarna by Lötsjön is a wonderful classic since the 1970s (the club was formed in 1952 and turns 70 in 2022) that we hope will be a nice complement to during the winter months. Being able to come back here and be part of the property owner Alecta's remake of Signalfabriken with a focus on food, drink and entertainment will be very exciting. Sundbyberg has a wonderful small-town charm, so we hope for many local regulars. In addition, we would like to recruit staff locally and offer musical entertainment with local roots in various ways, which I hope we will succeed with," says Hans Olofsson.
