Throughout September, Golfbaren Sweden collected money for the Swedish Childhood Cancer Foundation with the goal of donating at least SEK 100,000. A goal that was ultimately reached by far. Part of the fundraising was that Golfbaren encouraged its guests to make as many nails (hole in ones) as possible during their mini-golf game. For each nail/hole in one during September, Golfbaren donated SEK 10. In total, almost 5000 were made during September. In addition, Golfbaren participated in about 10 corporate golf competitions around Stockholm with a so-called HIO competition where participants donated SEK 100 each directly to the Swedish Childhood Cancer Foundation for the chance to win great prizes.
The fundraiser ended with a final night on September 30 at the Swing by Golf bar with performances from singer Sara Varga, musician Lars Hägglund and
entertainer John Houdi, who gave a taste of his famous ventriloquist show.
During the evening, a silent auction was also held with great experiences that raised additional money for the fundraiser. When everything was totaled, it was clear that the final sum, which goes in full to the Childhood Cancer Fund, landed on an incredible 167,000 SEK, far above the goal;
- Reaching such a nice sum was a good start for an annual collection for the Swedish Childhood Cancer Fund. Now we feel that we have the capacity to raise millions for the Swedish Childhood Cancer Fund next year," says Alexander Erwik, event manager at Golfbaren Sweden.
Planning for next year's fundraiser, called Swing of Hope, is already underway.
- We are proud to be able to contribute with our donation and grateful to all contributors who made this possible. In addition to us at Golfbaren donating SEK 50,000, Golfbaren's guests, friends, suppliers and others have also contributed greatly.
We would like to thank all donors, large and small, and are already looking forward to next year," says Golfbaren's founders Hans & Nathalie Olofsson.
